Homework

Can you believe how much homework teachers cram on you? Just this last week I had a ton of assignments to do. I felt like they wanted to get back at us for having a break, and them not being able to have one. Because they had to stay at school to finish putting grades in. That way we would finally get our (3rd) third term grades.

I have to go to (2) two places for a field trip, for my science term project. I also have to bring back a brochure, a receipt, and write a (1) page written report. For Honors English I have to update my Shelfari bookshelf, read Walk Two Moons, write a formal review of Walk Two Moons and post it on my Shelf by May 21st, 2010, read another book suggested by a classmate on Shefari, continue weekly blogs and discussion board posts, and sign and submit my Honors English form by June 1st, 2010.

I have to retake my fiber quiz, because I wasn’t ready for it, and I totally bombed it. Hopefully I do much better. I really want to cheat, by writing all the correct answers on my hand or something, but I’m not going to only because I’m not a cheater, and I know that cheating is wrong.

For Orchestra I have to play a (4rth) fourth term solo. This term our solos don’t have to be memorized, I think. Even if it does have to get memorized, and you don’t memorize it, you only miss ten points for not memorizing it. The rest of your score is on how well you played, whether you played all the flats and sharps correct, being in tune, bowing, dynamics, accidentals, road blocks, time signature, and much more. I want to learn how to play the piano, because the most that I can play is around a little bit of Mary Had A Little Lamb. I wish that I was able to play because all the notes are the same, except for a few of them.

Today I went to see Alice In Wonderland, the new one. It was awesome because we got to watch it in 3-D! I thought the movie was really cool! If I could I would just watch it over and over again. I’m so glad that I’m still left in Honors English; I just wish that Mr. Thompson would’ve left the Dickens until the very end. Some parts of Honors English were a lot harder than I thought they would be. Next year I’m going to be taking English Honors 10, World Civilization Honors, Pre-Calculus or Algebra 2, Adv. Orchestra, and much more. The Honors classes won’t be online though. I’m planning on taking the Algebra 2 over the summer, that way I can take Pre-Calculus in my sophomore year. I’ll most likely pass the Algebra 2 class, because Algebra is super easy for me, then next year I’ll have already completed all my required math credits if I want to go to college, or get a scholarship.

Harry Potter Poems by J.K. Rowling and Why I Like Them

Here are some poems that I like that are from Harry Potter.

Grigotts Wizarding Bank poem:

Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn,
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there.

I like this poem because in the 7th book Harry remembers, about the warning
above.

Sorting Hat's song (book 1)

"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat then me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry,
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin,
Where you'll meet your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means,
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For a Thinking Cap."

Sorting Hat's song (book 4)

"A thousand years or more ago,
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of renown,
Whose name are still well-known:
Bold Gryffindor from wild moor,
Fair Ravlenclaw from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin from fen.
They share a wish, a hope, a dream,
They hatched a daring plan,
To educate young sorcerers,
Thus Hogwarts school began.
Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues,
In the ones they had to teach.
By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best;
For Hufflepuff, hardworkers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin
Loved those of great ambition.
While still alive they did divide
Their favourates from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When they were dead and gone?
'Twas Gryffindor who found the way,
He whipped me off his head
The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!
Now slip me snug around your ears,
I've never yet been wrong,
I'll have alook inside your mind
And tell where you belong!"
I like the hat songs because there aren’t that many throughout the books, and the same goes for the movies.

Hogwarts' school song

(Each peron sings it in their own chosen tune)

"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us somehting please,
Whether we be old and bald,
Or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare and full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we've forgot,
Just do your best, we'll do the rest,
And learn untill our brains all rot."

I like this a lot because Fred and George sing it really funny, and really slowly.
Harry's singing Valentine (probably from Ginny)

"His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad,
His hair is as dark as a black board,
I wish he was mine, he's really divine,
The hero who conquered the dark lord."

Peeves's song (when people though Harry was the heir of Slytherin)

"Oh, Potter, you rotter,
Oh, what have you done?
You're killing off students,
You think it's good fun!"

Sphinx's riddle
(See if you can figure it out ... Harry did!)

"First think of a person who lives in disguise,
Who deals in secrets and tells naught but lies.
Next, tell me what's always the last thing to mend,
The middle of middle and end of end?
And finally give me the sound often heard
During the search for a hard-to-find word?
Now string them together, and answer me this,
Which creature would you be unwilling to kiss?"

Answer: Spider!
I’m sure you wouldn’t want to kiss a spider.

Camping/ Other

I love to go camping because we go camping, a lot of places. This weekend my family is going to Wendover. I might not go, I only won't if I can stay at one of my best friends India. I hope I can. Because all were going to do is walk around, go to dinner, and swim. While our mom and dad go gambling all 5 of us would watch T.V. or movies. I hope that I can go to India's so that I won't be bored out of my wits.

Don't you hate it when teachers assign you a ton of homework. I got around ten pages of homework, and each of them had ten problems. I wish that some teachers wouldn't assign so much homework on Thursday and/or Friday. It's not like we have nothing better to do than do homework all day.

I sometimes wish we didn't get so many big projects from our teachers. It usually takes me a little while to get a project done, but it also depends on the kind of project. I usually always end up turning my projects in early, even though I don't have to. The projects that I like the best that the teachers give students are: when you read a book and take an A.R. test, and when you do a power point, and present it to the class, or sometimes only have to turn it in.

In Orchestra it's really fun to do the term projects. We have to memorize a solo 2 of the terms, one of the terms we play an ensemble, and the other term we play another solo, but it doesn't have to be memorized. I love Orchestra because it's a really fun class to be in. The teacher Mrs. Tuke is really nice, and kind to everyone. She's an excellent orchestra teacher. I like her very much. I really wish I could have her when I go into high school next year, but then again I also want to be with my friends.
